ENGL 830 -
Research and Practice in the Teaching of College Composition
Course Rationale Assignment
A quick reflection on the course...
ENGL 830 was one of the first classes I took for my IUP doctoral program. This course was a requirement for the program and provided an overview of topics related to teaching first year composition. This was also the first time I have taken a course with a professor who incorporated holistic embodied pedagogy into the learning experience. What does that mean? Well, I wasn't too sure myself at first, but it turns out that Dr. Pagnucci is a big believer in tying content learning to physical, mental, and emotional experiences. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to connect our course topics with journal reflections from a variety of angles-- I've been pondering the storytelling value of a catchy song and enjoying mindful moments while scratching out thoughts in the sunshine. I look forward to continuing this practice of embodied journaling and building on the assignments we began in this class.
